Who He Is

Joshua Mhlakela is a South African preacher whose YouTube channel, Exodus 2025, became the origin point for a viral prophetic movement in 2025. In interviews on the CENTTWINZ TV podcast — a South African lifestyle channel with roughly 440,000 subscribers — he announced that Jesus had appeared to him and given him a specific rapture date: September 23-24, 2025.

The prediction spread rapidly on TikTok, YouTube, and Instagram under the hashtag RaptureTok. When September 23-24 passed without event, the community did not disperse. It reinterpreted. And it grew.

The Prophecy and Its Failures

His own deadline, in his own words — from the CENTTWINZ Part 2 interview (YouTube, March 24, 2026):

“When Israel becomes 78, my prophecy is out. The prophecy that I gave — on the 14th of May, if 14th of May comes and reaches and then Israel becomes 78 — my prophecy is dead, it’s over.”

“My prophecy cannot pass the 14th of May. But what if it does? I can’t answer that question because I know it won’t. I have not sinned, I have not wronged. I did not lie, I told the truth. I am a billion percent sure.”

Israel turned 78 on May 14, 2026. On that day, Joshua posted a community statement publicly correcting his understanding of the deadline while simultaneously declaring the rapture still on — introducing the Three Phases framework (Proclamation → Dying → Resurrection) to reframe the failure as a necessary stage before fulfilment.

He then named the World Cup as his terminal proof point: “THERE WILL BE NO WORLD CUP 2026.” The tournament opened on June 11. The claim was narrowed — to the tournament being “cut short,” then to the trophy never being presented — and the trophy was presented on July 19. On July 30 he dropped the World Cup claim entirely, without acknowledging it had failed, and named a new anchor: Tishri 1, the Hebrew New Year, which he fixed at October 12–13, 2026. That date passed, and on October 16 his channel named October 16–17 instead, which also passed. See The World Cup Claim.

Key Characteristics

He rarely names defenders or critics. Joshua’s content addresses his audience generically; he does not respond to named critics by channel. His one notable exception runs the other way: in July 2026, after the World Cup trophy was presented, he ended a period of silence by resharing a post from his most prolific defender, Christy Williams Deurloo (@Rapture2025Confirmation), rather than offering his own explanation. Collaborators such as Trilani also narrate some of his calculation videos.

He reframes every failure without conceding error. The September failure became a calendar correction. The October failure became another delay. The May 14 failure became the Dying Phase of a three-part prophetic cycle. The World Cup failure was never addressed at all — the claim was simply replaced. Each reframe uses the failure itself as evidence that the prophecy is alive.

His engagement is genuine. Unlike some figures in this space, his community is real and international. His World Cup video (May 15, 2026) generated 3,000 views, 420 likes, and 221 comments in one day — with responses in Korean, Russian, Spanish, Romanian, and multiple African languages. The harm his failed predictions produce is not limited to an English-speaking audience.
